Thanks for visiting my personal website. I'm a Dutch film composer living and working in London.
In 2011 I graduated from the National Film and Television School with a two year Master degree in 'Composing for Film and Television'. Having the experience working with the best talent of the UK, I'm now pursuing my career as a film composer.
In 2013 I won the 2nd price at the Transatlantyk Film Festival with the Film Music Competition. Composers from all over the world wrote a soundtrack for two short films and the final 12 were judged by top Hollywood composers Marco Beltrami (World War Z, Wolverine, The Hurt Locker), Jan Kaczmarek (Finding Neverland) and others.
I won the 'Der Leo' award in 2011 for my experimental score for The Origin of Creatures, an animation film by Floris Kaayk that also got selected as the official Dutch entry for the Academy Awards of 2011. In 2008 I was nominated for the European Talent Award at the Soundtrack Cologne Conference and won the award for best score at the Dutch Film Festival 48 hour competition.
The past few years I've been privileged to write the music for the films of James W. Griffiths. Our first collaboration was Splitscreen - A Love Story, which was a global success. It won the Nokia competition and was named as 9th most creative video of 2011 by TIME Magazine. This was followed with the beautifully shot poems We Were Wanderers On This Prehistoric Earth and A Solitary World. In february 2014 our short film Room 8 won the BAFTA for 'Best British Short Film'.
In February 2012 one of my graduation films called Abuelas by Afarin Eghbal was nominated for a BAFTA in the category 'Animation Shorts'. In 2010 I did my first feature film 'Patient 17, a thriller by Tuyet Le that was nominated for best European First Feature at the Braunschweig Film Festival. In 2012 I wrote the music for the documentary short 'The Perfect Fit' by Tali Yankelevich and that was shortlisted for an Academy Award in 2013.
Latest projects have been ads for Imperial War Museum (Aardman Animations), Stella Artois (Mother London), Aberdeen Asset Management (Academy Films) and Weight Watchers (Saatchi & Saatchi). Documentaries for BBC, Channel 4, Al Jazeera and various short films.
Before going to the NFTS I graduated with honours in Music Technology with the speciality 'Composition and Music Production' at the Utrecht School of Arts in The Netherlands. I was involved in many different projects and worked on several feature films as an assistant for the Dutch film composer Paul M. van Brugge.
